Mango liquor, abdominal exercisers, and fiber-optic Frisbees–these are some products you might see soon, if Babson’s young entrepreneurs get their way.
Last Thursday, a group of young entrepreneurs pitched their ideas to a packed audience of potential investors in Boston. Other highlights of the fourteen presentations include MBA students Eric Sedransk and Kevin Connors’s “Guest Listers”–a service that sets out to improve the Boston nightlife scene by providing calendars and guest lists to premier bars and clubs throughout the city.
The evening was the showcase of Babson College’s Summer Venture Program, which gives a select group of MBA students and undergrads the chance to develop their ideas each summer, making full use of Babson’s extensive resources for entrepreneurs.
“It’s a 10-week summer camp for our best and brightest young entrepreneurs,” program director Steve Gold recently told the Boston Herald.
In another social venture MBA student Niket Anjaria proposed “Snapparent” a social network that lets parents connect with each other to exchange advice, buy and sell things, and find fun events.
Meanwhile, MBA student Emily Lagasse’s FedWell Pet Food takes aim at pet-owners who want to give their pets human-grade, nutritious food.
“I’ve been working on this concept for over a year,” Legasse recently told the Boston Herald. “In these past 10 weeks, I feel like I was really pushed to question everything I had learned already. Because of that, I have a final product that I am 100 percent confident in and ready to move forward with.”
The program is one of Babson’s many initiatives to support entrepreneurial ventures and is part of the Babson’s John E. and Alice L. Butler Venture Accelerator.
