A current student at NYU Stern’s Langone Part-Time MBA program, Pablo Lopez Zadicoff, recently participated in the NYU Global Idea Exchange (GIE). GIE is an open invitation to the entire NYU community, including students and staff, to come together around the question, “How might we activate the potential of cities to ignite a modern renaissance?” Over 1600 NYU community members came together to answer this question and ultimately several finalists were selected to travel to Shanghai to further develop and present their ideas; among them was Zadicoff.
Zadicoff’s ideas, “Reclaim the floor,” having to do with finding innovative uses for sidewalks, and “time renaissance,” looking at alternative uses of time, were selected for the final stage. He attributed the early development of these ideas to a class he took with Professor Paul Romer, Director of the NYU Stern Urbanization Project, entitled “Urban Systems.” Zadicoff said that this course, “circled around the idea of cities as engines of innovation and economic growth.”
Zadicoff reflected that this experience has greatly enhanced his MBA education. “I enjoy looking at things from a different perspective and trying to improve the status-quo,” he said. “Stern has given me the opportunity to meet very interesting people from different backgrounds and to broaden my skills to have a more complete view of the business world.”
