Rutgers Business School Announces Dates for 2014 Business Plan Competition
Rutgers Business School Newark/New Brunswick has announced the dates for their 2014 business plan competition. The competition intends to encourage entrepreneurs who seriously intend to launch their business, and by doing so to support job growth in New Jersey.
A Rutgers MBA student, alumnus, and or undergraduate in their senior year of business school must fill the leadership role in the business venture, but team members may be from all years at Rutgers. The competition will feature cash prizes totaling $40,000, provided by the Sales Executives Club of Northern New Jersey.
Teams can register for this year’s competition by submitting a one page executive summary of their business plan by December 6, 2013, and the final business plan must be submitted by January 24, 2014. The final presentation for teams named semi-finalists will take place on March 7, 2014, and the winners will be announced the same day. The 2013 Rutgers Business Plan Competition winners, Ross Goldstein and Cesar Chang, used their prize money to jump start their business. After winning the competition, they officially launched their website, Opcura.com, which helps people get access to their medical records online and provides tools for them to understand the records. Goldstein and Chang also used the money to hire staff, and put some of the money into advertising. Goldstein and Chang paid for billboard space near the entry to the Garden State Parkway. They claim that their investment increased traffic to their website and registrations on the site by 300%.
