The George Mason School of Management has announced the hire of John Hillen—former president and CEO of Sotera Defense Solutions. Hillen has been brought on board as executive in residence and professor of practice for the School of Management.
“The School of Management and George Mason are uniquely connected in myriad ways to the innovation engines of the economy in the Washington, DC area,” Hillen said. “I’m excited to be a part of that.”
A former assistant secretary for political-military affairs for the United States Department of State, Hilen has led four defense and intelligence technology firms in Northern Virginia. More recently, he had been CEO of Sotera, formerly Global Defense Technology & Systems Inc., since 2008. He stepped down as president and CEO in May, and now serves as the company’s vice chairman.
“The school’s commitment to leadership in the community as well as academic excellence and expertise in the government contracting space make it a singular leader in business and executive education for the key industry in our area,” he said.
