Graziadio School of Business and Management student Toni Washington received a scholarship from the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP)-Southern California Roundtable. Founded in 1963, with more than 85,000 members, the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals is a worldwide professional association concerned with the advancement and dissemination of research and knowledge on supply chain management.
CSCMP awards tuition-supplementing scholarships annually to promising MBA students from Southern California colleges and universities who exhibit a particular expertise in supply chain management logistics, transportation, distribution, or a closely related field. This year’s prestigious award was valued at $3,000.
Washington, a student in the part-time evening Master in Business Administration (FEMBA) program, is a sales specialist at Astra Zeneca, LLP, a global biopharmaceutical company. She aspires to have a career in operations management within the healthcare sector. Washington has worked closely with her managers and other key personnel throughout supply chain channels and purchasing departments within private health care systems and large hospital groups, while looking to advance into management within the operations division of Astra Zeneca’s logistics department.
With the help of this scholarship, Washington can accelerate her studies at Pepperdine and complete her MBA in Spring 2015.
Washington follows in the footsteps of previous scholarship recipient Stephanie Cervantes, who became Graziadio School’s first ever CSCMP awardee last year. Candidates for the scholarship are evaluated based on 35-percent academic performance, 50-percent demonstrated commitment to a supply chain management career and 15-percent need.
