Smeal Recognized By Supply Chain Industry Professionals
Penn State University’s Smeal College of Business receives name recognition and respect from senior professionals in the supply chain industry, according to a survey that appeared in the 2013 Chief Supply Chain Officer Report. Smeal was ranked third amongst business schools that produce supply chain management graduates. The Chief Supply Chain Officer Report is published by SCM World, a global organization of senior supply chain management professionals with members. The 2013 issue is the organization’s fourth annual report.
To compile a list of the top supply chain management schools, SCM World sent a survey to members of their global organization and to operations, procurement, and supply chain professionals outside of SCM World. Each recipient was asked to list the top three schools they saw as providers of talented supply chain management graduates. The individual responses were compiled into the list of top supply chain management schools published in the Chief Supply Chain Officer Report.
Penn State Smeal has several opportunities for students interested in supply chain management. Penn State Smeal’s MBA program offers a concentration in supply chain management, and Penn State’s Executive Programs offer certificate courses in supply chain leadership and supply chain management. Smeal also has the Center for Supply Chain Research, a forum where academics and industry leaders explore research topics related to supply chain management. The center focuses on traditional topics in supply chain management, like distribution, procurement, and supply chain transportation, in addition to new areas of supply chain research like risk management, sustainability, low cost country sourcing, and human behavior modeling.
