REGISTER: Haas Hosts Asia Business Conference
On March 1, 2014, the University of California Berkeley’s Haas School of Business will host the Berkeley Asia Business Conference. The theme of this year’s event is “Disrupting Asia: How to disrupt business practices and tap unique business and investment opportunities in Asia”. The Berkeley Asia Business Conference is the largest student-run conference about Asian Business on the West Coast. It will include panel discussions on finance, health care, and consumer packaged goods. The Dean of UC Berkeley-Haas, Richard Lyons, will give the opening address for the conference.
The conference’s keynote talk will be given by Berkeley alumna Holly Liu, the co-founder and chief of staff of Kabam, the online gaming company. During Liu’s time at Kabam, the company was named the 17th fastest growing company overall in the US and the fastest-growing Bay Area Internet media company. In the past three years alone, Kabam has experienced a 500 percent growth in staff to 775 employees. Liu herself was named in Fortune’s “10 Most Powerful Women in Gaming” list, and she was honored on Forbes “Top 10 Women Entrepreneurs to Watch” list.
This year, the Berkeley Asia Business Conference will feature a case study for the first time. Hanny Yang, an MBA student at Haas and the conference co-chair, explains that the case study was added to further engage conference participants: “This year, we are focusing on technology and creating a more interactive event. The case study and student pitch competition will not only create deeper discussions but also generate new ideas for our audiences to think about how to use technology to change Asia or the world.”
The conference will take place from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM. To register, visit the event website.
