Tomorrow, the Newark Museum will host the first Newark Grad Student Meet Up from 5-7 pm. The event is open to graduate students from all disciplines, MBA students, and young professionals who work in or around the city of Newark. The event is the result of a collaboration between Rutgers University-Newark, Rutgers Health Sciences Campus at Newark, Seton Hall Law School, and the New Jersey Institute of Technology. The Newark Grad Student Meet Up aims to connect young professionals and graduate students in Newark so that they can learn more about each other and the city of Newark as a whole.
The event will include a panel discussion titled “Newark Business and Culture”. The panel will include presentations by Samantha Boardman, a graduate fellow and Ph.D candidate in American Studies at Rutgers; Richard Hummers, the vice president of Enterprise Financial Management; Marshall McLean, special counsel at McCarter & English; and Thomas McCabe, a lecturer in history at Rutgers. The assistant director of the Newark Public Library, George Wheatle Williams, will moderate the panel.
The Grad Student Meet Up will feature door prizes, including a Jet Blue travel voucher, tickets to the Prudential Center and the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, a dinner at Dinosaur Barbecue, a Newark Museum membership, and branded merchandise from the event’s sponsor institutions. All attendees at the Grad Student Meet Up will receive two complimentary drinks and light fare.
Tickets for the event can be purchased at the Newark Museum website, or at the door. The tickets are $10 if purchased in advance and $15 at the door.
