The Stanford Graduate School of Business has announced that it will be offering a new online course called “Innovating Through Value Chains.” The course will introduce students to parts of the business eco-system that create value for their company. A company’s “value chain” consists of markets, industry peers, environmental interests, suppliers, government, competitiors, and other parts of the business ecosystem. “Innovating Through Value Chains” aims to teach participants how to use different parts of their value chain to create expanded services, greater customer loyalty, improved efficiencies, and other benefits for their business. The course will include lectures, exercises, and videos.
The course will be taught by Hau Lee, the Thoma Professor of Operations, Information, and Technology at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Lee is a supply chain expert who focuses on finding ways to manage the flow of information, materials, and money to get products and services to a final destination. Lee’s research has helped businesses develop operational concepts and strategy, and has supported the construction of computer models for industrial applications.
The new course is the eleventh course in a set of classes that comprise the Stanford Innovation and Entrepreneurship Certificate. Online participants can earn the professional certificate from Stanford by taking eight of the twelve available courses, or they can enroll in a single course of interest. Tuition for each course is $995.
Stanford will offer a free webinar titled Value Chain Innovations in Business Ecosystems for prospective participants in the Innovating Through Value Chains course. The webinar will be offered at 9 AM Pacific Time on March 12. If you are interested in the webinar, you can register for it here.
