BU Hosts Grand Business Challenge in Digital Health

This week, the Boston University School of Management is hosting its second annual Grand Business Challenge in Digital Health. The competition is cosponsored by Merck. The two-day challenge allows MBA student teams from business schools all over the world to present their ideas to transform global healthcare through information technology. The event will also give MBA students the chance to offer their insights to executives from healthcare and IT firms. The competition will take place from March 20 to 22.

The Grand Business Challenge in Digital Health is an invitation only competition. Each competing team must consist of full time MBA students, and must have exactly four participants. Yesterday, teams received a briefing about the nature of the challenge, and will have until noon today to develop a presentation. The first round of presentations will be judged by industry experts and Merck executives, who will select four teams to compete in the Grand Business Challenge Finals tomorrow.

The first place team in the Grand Business Challenge will take home a cash prize of $25,000. The second, third, and fourth place teams will receive $15,000, $10,000, and $7,000 respectively. The teams who do not make the top four will still have the opportunity to win other cash prizes in the “Second Day Challenge.”

Sixteen business schools will send teams to compete at the challenge. This year’s competition features teams from top schools, including the Boston University School of Management, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Sloan School of Management, Columbia Business School, the University of North Carolina’s Kenan-Flagler Business School, and the Olin Business School at Washington University in St. Louis.
