Rutgers Real Estate Lecture Series Features Hampshire Companies Founder

Rutgers Business School Newark/New Brunswick’s new Center for Real Estate Studies has announced that Jon F. Hanson will serve as the inaugural speaker for its Distinguished Lecture Series. Hanson is the chairman and founder of Hampshire Companies, and he will discuss development in New Brunswick, Atlantic City, and the Meadowlands.

Hanson founded Hampshire Companies nearly four decades ago. In Fall 2013, he was listed as the most influential person in New Jersey real estate by NJBIZ in their Power 50 ranking. NJBIZ describes Hanson as “an elder statesman in New Jersey’s commercial real estate industry.” Hampshire Companies is based in Morristown, NJ.

Last year, representatives of the business school’s Newark campus announced that the school would offer a new MBA concentration in real estate. The decision came after Paul V. Profeta, of Paul V. Profeta and Associates Inc. donated $1.5 million to support the endowment of a $3 million dollar chair in real estate studies at the school. The chair will do international research and set up the real estate studies program. To develop the real estate program, the school has also named Ronald Shapiro, a former real estate and banking executive, the director of the Center for Real Estate Studies.

The first talk in the Distinguished Lecture Series will take place on March 20 at the Newark Museum. The ticket price is $75. To register for the event, visit the event page on Rutgers’ website.
