Richard Taylor, executive in residence and director of the Center for Real Estate at the Sawyer Business School of Suffolk University, was recently honored with the Distinguished Public Service Award given by the Massachusetts Women’s Political Caucus at the 13th Annual Good Guys luncheon.
Since 2002, the Good Guys awards have been honoring men who are helping women achieve equality.
Taylor has always mentored and encouraged women to achieve high-ranking positions in the business community. As the former secretary of transportation and construction for Massachusetts, he appointed several women to leadership roles in his administration.
In addition to his work at Suffolk University, Taylor is also chairman of the Taylor Smith Group, a Boston-based real estate development and commercial brokerage firm. A well-known and respected community leader, he is active in the NAACP, is a former chair of the Urban League of Eastern Massachusetts, and a founder of the Minority Developers Association.
He holds an MBA and JD from Harvard University and was a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford University. His areas of expertise include asset and market growth, organizational flexibility, and strategy.
