St. Joseph’s University announced that Rosalind Reichard, Ph.D., will serve as interim provost beginning June 4, 2014. Reichard is the former president and professor of mathematics at Emory & Henry College where she served from 2006 to 2013. Prior to her time at Emory & Henry, she served as the vice president for academic affairs at Meredith College and as the dean of sciences and mathematics at Elon University, where she also held a faculty position for 16 years.
“During this one-to two-year interim period, it is important that we build a strong bridge to the future for Saint Joseph’s University,” says President C. Kevin Gillespie, “I believe Dr. Reichard’s keen understanding of higher education and her wealth of experience in administration will serve Saint Joseph’s well while she is with us.”
While at Emory & Henry, Reichard was responsible for the creation of an Office of Institutional Research and Institutional Effectiveness, the development of a comprehensive college-wide planning and assessment program, a strategic planning process with the support of a college-wide task force and the collaborative development of a new General Education Program with faculty.
“In my visit to Saint Joseph’s, it was apparent that the entire community has a shared commitment to student success,” says Reichard. “The people, the mission and the traditions all support the transformative nature of the student experience, which is based on true partnerships between outstanding faculty and students. I am delighted and honored to join Fr. Gillespie, and all of the faculty, administrators and staff to build on this institution’s exceptional academic quality.”
Reichard succeeds former Provost Brice Wachterhauser, Ph.D., who will return to the philosophy faculty after ten years of service.
