Mason EMBAs Present Gift to Wounded Warrior Project
Students from George Mason’s School of Business’ EMBA Class of 2014 took pride in presenting a $2,500 donation to the Wounded Warrior Project. The Wounded Warrior Project is a non-profit veterans service organization that offers a variety of programs, services and events for wounded veterans of the military actions following the events of 9/11/2001.
“We are grateful for the many sacrifices that our military service personnel and their families have made—and continue to make—in defending America’s values and national interests, and hope that this small token of our appreciation reflects our commitment to honor their legacy,” said Pat Philbin, EMBA ’14.
Mary Tallouzi, a spokesperson with the Wounded Warrior Project, accepted the donation from Philbin. Tallouzi described how the Wounded Warrior Project had provided invaluable support to her family when her son Daniel was severely injured in Iraq in 2006.
This is the first George Mason EMBA class to adopt a service project but representatives from the school are pushing to not make it the last.
“After this experience, we will be encouraging future cohorts to do the same,” said J.P. Auffret, director of Executive Degree Programs. “The class became closer in their united efforts to do something for others. And such projects help our school build a culture that emphasizes not only business success, but also the importance of contributing to society.”
