 McDonough Faculty Member Named Honorary Professor of the Indian Institute of Finance

Reena Aggarwal, Robert E. McDonough Professor of Business Administration, professor of finance and director of the Center for Financial Markets and Policy at the McDonough School of Business, has been named an honorary professor of the Indian Institute of Finance. In being named as an honorary professor, Aggarwal will periodically present lectures and provide guidance to the institute.

“I am honored and humbled to receive this professorship,” Aggarwal said. “The institute is unique with regard to its education and research mission in the area of finance, and I look forward to helping it develop talented leaders in the space.”

The Indian Institute of Finance was founded in 1987. A nonprofit and autonomous institution, the Institute promotes education, research training and financial consulting— the only organization of its kind in India.

Aggarwal is an expert on matters related to initial public offerings, investment banking, institutional investors, stock prices, valuation, corporate governance, securities market regulation, trading activities and market structure. Throughout her career she has consulted for NASDAQ, Fidelity, Credit Suisse, Wachovia, Bechtel, WilmerHale and Sidley Austin. In addition, she has worked with organizations including IMF, World Bank, United Nations, IFC, OPIC, IADB, OECD, U.S. SEC, among others, and has advised governments and financial institutions in emerging markets including China, India, Vietnam, Mexico, Peru, Ecuador and Nigeria.

Professor Aggarwal specializes in international stock markets, initial public offerings, financial market regulation, and corporate governance. Her current research focuses on international investments by mutual funds, international corporate governance and market valuation, demutualization of stock exchanges and public offerings. She teaches courses in Corporate Finance, Alternative Investments and Investment Banking. She is an award winning teaching and has been named among “Outstanding Faculty” in the Business Week Guide to the Best Business Schools, and has been voted as the Outstanding Professor by the Executive MBA students.
