From Friday, Sept. 19 through Sunday, Sept. 21, the McDonough School of Business and The Georgetown University Entrepreneurship Initiative will host Georgetown Entrepreneurship Day. The three day event will feature an array of entrepreneurship events that will provide opportunities for students, faculty and business leaders to network and collaborate.
Georgetown Entrepreneurship Day is the academic year launch of the entrepreneurship programs at the university and the kickoff of the day’s activities.
On Friday, the agenda includes networking, breakout sessions and a keynote presentation by Ted Leonsis, founder, chairman, majority owner, and CEO of Monumental Sports & Entertainment. The entrepreneurship-focused day continues with TechBUZZ Georgetown, a triannual half-day event hosted by the Mid-Atlantic Venture Association (MAVA) for area entrepreneurs and investors. The event will include keynote presentations by Dan Berger (MBA ’10), founder and CEO of Social Tables, and James Foster, founder and CEO of ZeroFOX.
Meanwhile, Startup Weekend will be held all three days. Anyone is welcome to pitch a startup idea and receive feedback from their peers, as teams organically form around the top ideas. Then it’s a 54-hour frenzy of business model creation, coding, designing and market validation. The weekend will culminate with presentations in front of local entrepreneurial leaders at 5 p.m. on Sunday.
The event is held at Georgetown University McDonough School of Business Rafik B. Hariri Building (37th and O Streets). You can register online for each of the three events here.
This is just one of The Georgetown Entrepreneurship Initiative’s signature programs. Other programs include: The Hoya Challenge Business Pitch Competition, the StartupHoyas Incubator, the McDonough School of Business Entrepreneurial Fellowship, the Georgetown Entrepreneurship Alliance, the Georgetown Entrepreneurship Faculty Exchange, Entrepreneurs in Residence, and events such as Georgetown Entrepreneurship Day, the Venture Capital Investment Competition and Global Entrepreneurship Week.
