George Washington School of Business Alumni gathered campus for Alumni Weekend 2014– a weekend was filled with numerous opportunities to reconnect with classmates, faculty, and staff through social events, networking programs, life-long learning sessions, and more.
Things kicked off with Julie Monaco, ESIA BA ’85, Managing Director, Global Head Public Sector, Corporate and Investment Banking Division, Institutional Clients Group at Citi giving the keynote address at the 8th Annual Ramsey Student Investment Fund Conference. More than 100 alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends were in attendance to hear Ms. Monaco speak about the role of governments as investors and how governments can seek to attract private investment for specific projects.
The remainder of the Ramsey Conference featured stock pitches presented by alumni and friends of the fund, which was established in 2005 thanks to a $1 million gift from alumnus and former GW Board Chairman W. Russell Ramsey, BA ’81, and his wife, Norma.
Finally the GWSB Office of Alumni Relations partnered with volunteers from the full-time MBA Classes of 2009 and 2004 to host the second ever stand-alone 5- and 10-year MBA Reunions. Recognizing that alumni returning to GW may have limited time to spend on campus, this year the reunions were hosted in Duquès Hall, home of GWSB.
Now in its 8th year, GW Alumni Weekend is a way to reconnect with old classmates and forge new connections with GW alumni from around the globe. It is never too early to start planning your trip back– next year’s Alumni Weekend is set for September 24-27, 2015.
