Haub Holds Second TedxSJU Event

The Haub School of Business and its Dean’s Leadership Program hosted the second TEDxSJU event on Oct. 9, 2014. The event titled, “Oh, the Places You’ll Grow,” was held in the Cardinal Foley Campus Center on the James J. Maguire ’58 Campus. The event covered the topic of holistic growth with a distinguished panel of local professionals and university professors.

TEDx offers independent and locally organized events licensed by TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design). TED holds annual conferences and features TED Talks online. TEDx gives local organizations and academic institutions the opportunity to host independent TED-like events of their own.

The lineup of speakers presented on topics including agricultural, physical, organizational and intellectual growth. Speakers included Dean Carlson from Wyebrook Farm, Stella Volpe Ph.D., professor at Drexel University, Dan Gallagher, Senior vice president for strategic growth initiatives at Comacst-Spectacor and Frank Bernt, Ph.D, from Saint Joseph’s University.

TEDxSJU is a Student-organized event that provides an opportunity for those interested in event organizing and business to gain professional experience. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group.

These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x is equal to an independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.

TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. Started as a four-day conference in California 30 years ago, TED has grown to support its mission with multiple initiatives.
