The San Francisco State University College of Business and the Center for Ethical and Sustainable Business will be hosting Business Ethics Week. The event will be held Nov. 3-7, 2014. Events will be held at both San Francisco State University’s main campus and its downtown campus.
Business Ethics Week is held each November and involves over 5,500 undergraduate and graduate business students and faculty as they hear from business and industry experts on topics related to business ethics and best practices, corporate social responsibility, the environment and sustainable business strategies. Faculty host a specific topic, case study, speaker, film or other activity directly related to business ethics and best practices in each class section during that week.
The departments of accounting, decision science, economics, finance, hospitality and tourism management, information systems, international business, labor and employment studies, management and marketing will all be hosting special events. Featured speakers include Tama Bistrian, Controller, Monterey Bay Aquarium, Tina Caratan, CPA, Accounting Lecturer, Kirk C. Dizon, Co-Founder and Partner of Sentinel Dome Partners, Shaba Rashid, CFP, Financial Services and Vince Siciliano, CEO, New Resource Bank.
San Francisco State University’s College of Business is one of the few business schools that require all graduate and undergraduate business students to take a Business & Society course, and has for the past 25 years. Most of the faculty members in fields such as finance, accounting, marketing, information systems, decision sciences, management, international business, and hospitality and tourism management, integrate modules on ethics and social responsibility in their courses.
The business ethics week events are open to the public as well as current students. Registration for events is not required to attend.
