The University of Delaware’s Horn Program in Entrepreneurship and Entrepreneurship Club (E-Club) will host their fall elevator pitch competition on Friday, Nov. 7. “Pitch Your Path” is a fast-paced competition designed to highlight the best entrepreneurial ideas that UD students have to offer.
This edition of the bi-annual series asks students to think about their careers and to recognize the importance of being entrepreneurial to their career success.
The competition will be held from 4-6 p.m. at the Venture Development Center (VDC) at 132 E. Delaware Ave., Suite 100.
Contestants will be given 60 to 90 seconds to deliver their business ideas to a live audience and panel of three accomplished judges. The winner will be awarded $1,000 in VDC cash that can be used toward the development of their business.
The judges of this year’s competition will include Dave Nagy, Leigh Ann Tona and Pedro Moore.
Nagy is a creative certified public accountant, corporate tax expert, entrepreneur and dabbler in most things. He’s passionate about partnering with information technology businesses and has advised hundreds of companies.
Tona started her own food cart business during her senior year at UD. She thought of the idea while sitting in one of her entrepreneurship classes, pitched the idea to the class, and received a unanimous positive response.
Moore is the operations manager/analyst for Innovation Ventures L.P., a SBIC venture capital fund focused on growth and early-stage investments in the areas of information technology; software; business information services related to the legal, and financial services.
Students interested in participating may register via the Horn Program’s registration form. Registration will end at 5 p.m. on Nov. 5, 2014.
