A record-setting number of participants crowded into Duquès Hall for this year’s Battle of the Beltway Case Competition on Mon., November 10th. Fifteen teams representing schools from all over the east coast competed in the annual event, which is hosted by Deloitte. While competing, students gain valuable experience by analyzing and working through case studies while being exposed to the consulting industry and Deloitte’s Federal practice.
The winner of this year’s Case Competition went to the team representing American University’s Kogod School of Business. The team representing the George Washington School of Business came in second place with a convincing presentation on improving the affordability of college by increasing the number and types of science, technology, engineering, and technology (STEM) programs, thus improving the marketability of students on a global level.
Third place went to Princeton University and fourth place went to the team of students from Wake Forest University.
The students that participated in the event, the representatives from Deloitte, and the staff that supported and produced the event demonstrated an outstanding level of professionalism and enthusiasm. When asking students after the experience what they thought about the case competition over 80% of the participants said they benefited “more than expected.”
