LMU Welcomes Largest EMBA Class

This fall, Loyola Marymount University’s Executive MBA Program welcomed the largest class in the program’s history. The newest cohort class is made up of 25 senior-level professionals. This is also one of the most diverse and best-qualified classes on record.

This cohort also has a more balanced gender ratio than in previous year, with 13 females and 12 males. In the past, the program has been predominately male. The average age is 37 with 15 years of work experience and 10 years of management experience.

Students are employed at top companies such as CVS Pharmacy, Microsoft, Mattel and Kaiser Permanente, and represent a variety of industries including information technology, entertainment, healthcare, finance, aerospace, retail and nonprofit.

Students in this cohort are also very ethnically and culturally diverse, with 38 percent Asian, 12 percent Hispanic and 12 percent African American, and hail from countries as far away as Nicaragua, South Korea, India and the Philippines.

LMU’s College of Business Administration launched the EMBA Program in 2000 with 12 students. Class sizes grew steadily in the following years to 22 in the class of 2006 and 21 in the class of 2007. As a result of the country’s financial crisis and recession, LMU’s EMBA class sizes declined, to the lows of the class of 2012 with 10 students and the class of 2013 with 11 students.

The last three years have shown a remarkable increase in class sizes due to a healthier economy. The LMU EMBA Program now has over 200 alumni, many of whom continue to stay active and involved with the program through mentoring, recruiting, events and financial support.
