CME Group’s Bill Stenzel Speaks With UIC Students

The University of Illinois at Chicago MBA Association (MBAA) partnered with the UIC Business Career Center to bring the Manager of Centralized Architecture & Analysis for the CME Group, Bill Stenzel, UIC MBA 2011, to speak with students about his experiences. According to the it’s Facebook page, the UIC MBAA is dedicated to building communication and relationships among members of the UIC MBA Association Through its continued efforts to encourage and develop networking with students, alumni and established industry professionals.

Stenzel discussed various things, including  his role at the CME Group, how he ended up working at the company, and why he got his MBA at UIC. Students in attendance listened in on key advice from Stenzel about topics ranging from requirement analysis to the Onion Futures Act.

Stezel stressed the importance of climbing the ladder, putting in the time, and learning the systems, if success was the end goal. He told UIC’s Graduate School Blog:

“I had a great time speaking with everyone that came and it was great to talk to so many people from various backgrounds working towards various degrees. Everyone was very welcoming and I could tell by the questions that were asked that everyone is passionate about taking the next steps in their career paths. Most importantly, I personally believe that events like this are about the opportunities to network.  Meeting people and learning from their experiences are what help us grow and evolve.  In the days following the event, many students reached out to me asking for advice and wanted to continue the dialogue about career growth.  I am excited about my opportunity as a UIC alumnus to give back to the university and help the students in any way I can.  I am already looking forward to coming back in the spring to do it again.”
