Marshall Holds SCM Certificate Course

The USC Marshall School of Business will be holding The Financial Implications of Global Supply Chain Management Certification Course. The course will be held Jan. 10, 2015 from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. It will be held at Popovich 104, at the University Park Campus.

The content of the course explores the causal relationship between the execution of global supply chain strategies and a company’s financial results. The course is presented from a global perspective. Participants will analyze the ties between landed cost controls, lead-time rationalization and inventory management and the results found on an organization’s balance sheet, income statement and cash flow statement.

This program creates tangible links between supply chain execution and financial performance through the study of successful supply chain practices and the application of timeless financial ratios to real-world examples. The course is designed for both operational and finance professionals.

Topics to be analyzed in the course include, financial analysis in the age of globalization, the cash-to-cash cycle, KPI’s for global operations, the DuPont Formula, the operating cycle, asset management, financial metrics and global supply chains, the financial impact of outsourcing, analysis of financial reports and examples & best practices.

Daniel L. Gardner will teach the course. Gardner is founder and president of Trade Facilitators, Inc., a Los Angeles based supply chain training and consulting firm. Prior to founding TFI in 2007, Gardner spent 23 years in the Third Party Logistics business where he held CEO-level, as well as other senior management positions with entities that include Ocean World Lines, Fritz Companies and DHL Global Forwarding.

The cost of the program for those who are not USC Marshall students is $595 with a fee of $25.80. The course is $495 for Marshall students, with a $22.80 fee. Registration for the program can be made online.
