The McDonough School of Business will host the 2015 Global Luxury Summit on January 29, 2015, at the Time Warner Center in New York City. The event is the first-ever conference sponsored by Georgetown, McDonough’s Global Business Initiative and the Georgetown Retail & Luxury Association student organization. The summit focuses solely on luxury and retail and is a unique networking and recruiting opportunity that connects both Georgetown students and alumni with leaders in the retail and luxury industries.
At the summit, The Georgetown University McDonough School of Business Office of Alumni and External Relations will present the “Building a Global Luxury Brand” panel, which will feature industry leaders such as:
- Domenico De Sole, chairman, Tom Ford
- Fabrizio Freda, president and CEO, The Estée Lauder Companies
- John Idol, chairman and CEO, Michael Kors
- Kara Ross, CEO, Kara Ross, New York
- Gildo Zegna, CEO, Ermenegildo Zegna Group
Ricardo Ernst, professor of operations and director of the Global Business Initiative at Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business, will act as the moderator.
“Successful global luxury brand companies understand that they need to develop products tailored for each market while maintaining the integrity of the brand,” said Ernst. “As the premier destination for global business education, Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business has assembled this panel of seasoned CEOs for a conversation on how they guide their companies through the world’s vastly different markets.”
Additional remarks will be given by John J. DeGioia, president of Georgetown University, and David A. Thomas, dean and William R. Berkley Chair, Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business.
“Our students are passionate about global business, which attracts the attention of these CEOs who share their experiences to help guide the students’ careers,” said Justine Schaffner, assistant dean for alumni and external relations. “Working with the Georgetown Retail and Luxury Association students on this event deepens the connections between Georgetown McDonough, its students, alumni, and global industry leaders.”
