NIU College of Business Set to Offer SAP Workshop This Summer
The NIU College of Business SAP University Alliance Program will offer an SAP certification workshop starting summer 2015. The SAP Certification workshop, titled “TERP10, Business Process Integration with SAP ERP (SAP ERP 6.0 EhP 6),” will provide training with the intention of preparing the program’s participants to become a SAP Certified Business Associate.
SAP Certification is an exam conducted by SAP AG, the leading provider of Enterprise Resource Planning software and is often times expensive to obtain. Like other IT skills, SAP certification is full of controversy because of the contrast between the importance of certification versus hands-on SAP skills. If you intend to have a career as SAP consultant you are required to obtain the certificate from SAP– consultant are expected to stay updated in order to be able to lend expertise to companies and help them build hi-tech services.
If you are a current NIU students or a recent alum then you are eligible to apply to enroll in this 10-day workshop that will held from June 15 to 26 in Barsema Hall. While not free, the workshop is being offered at a reduced fee thanks to the university’s membership in the SAP University Alliance.
The workshop demonstrates how modern enterprise systems function, covering a gamut of business functions in accounting, finance, human resources, procurement, manufacturing, sales and distribution, warehouse management, enterprise asset management and project management, as well as the basics of SAP ERP, NetWeaver and SAP Business Warehouse.
The week-long workshop will be taught by Andrew Setterstrom, an assistant professor of information systems at the NIU College of Business. NIU students who wish to participate in this workshop must have completed OMIS 455 or OMIS 643 with a grade of C or higher. Non-students must have a minimum of one year of SAP ERP related experience prior to the workshop.
