REGISTER: Chicago Booth Economic Outlook 2015
The University of Chicago Booth School of Business is gearing up to host Economic Outlook, an “annual event provides a forum for our pathbreaking thought leaders to confront the future,” which was established in 1954 as Business Forecast. This year’s Chicago event is on January 15, 2015, and three more events will happen in NYC (Feb. 3), Singapore (March 24), Hong Kong (April 28).
As the event webpage states, early Business Forecast events features panelists meeting in Chicago to offer discrete predictions about key economic indicators. As the years went on the event evolved to emphasize a broader, more multivariate style of thinking about the future economy. Business Forecast went on to become called Economic Outlook as the event spread from Chicago to other cities.
This year’s presenters include:
John Garnaut who is an authority on elite politics and how the policy process works in China, writing regularly on elite Chinese politics for Foreign Policy magazine and occasionally for other publications including Prospect, The New York Times, and Caijing magazine.
Austan Goolsbee serves on the Economic Advisory Panel to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and has previously served on the Panel of Economic Advisors to the Congressional Budget Office, the US Census Advisory Commission, and as a special consultant for Internet Policy to the Antitrust Division of the Department of Justice. He joined the faculty at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business in 1995.
Randall Kroszner who has taught at Booth since 1990. He has taught at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He was director of the George J. Stigler Center for the Study of the Economy and the State. He served as editor of the Journal of Law & Economics and has been associate editor of a number of other academic and policy journals.
