REGISTER: Smith School Program on Women and the Part-Time MBA

The Robert H. Smith School of Business is hosting an event designed specifically for ambitious women interested in the school’s Part Time MBA program. Joyce Russell, Ph.D., Vice Dean, will lead the program off with some opening remarks before prospective MBAs get to network with alumna, current students and representatives from Admissions and the Office of Career Services. This session is on Saturday, January 31, 2015, from 8:30 am – 12:30 am at Smith School’s DC Campus. You can register for that here.

Smith’s Part-Time Evening MBA is structured for students whose schedules would best be supported by evening classes and activities. Evening MBA students complete the program in 30-36 months in either Washington, D.C., Shady Grove (Rockville), or Baltimore. It’s an ideal option for those whose work or weekday schedule can’t accommodate evening classes. Like the Evening MBA, the Weekend MBA program can be completed in 30 – 36 months at the Washington, D.C. location. In the core curriculum, students meet approximately 33-36 Saturdays a year. This works out to three out of four Saturdays per month.

“We are committed to supporting women MBA students, so it is an honor to join this group,” said Alex Triantis, Smith’s dean. “Being part of this organization will help us meet our goals of attracting and advancing more women in business careers.”

Along with these new scholarships, sponsorships and alliances, Smith has organized a task force to explore program innovations, support women and build on school initiatives that have already set the school apart as a leader on gender issues

“The end goal is to impact companies,” Joyce E.A. Russell said. “If we want to impact change in companies, and have women reach the highest levels in organizations, then we need to help more women have successful experiences in business school. We will set priorities. We will identify signature events and integrate all of our different activities.

New scholarships, alliances, program innovations and opportunities are now available for women at the Robert H. Smith School of Business. Some of these new scholarships will come from Smith’s participation in the Forté Fellows Program, an international campaign organized to increase the number of women in top MBA programs. Smith and five other schools officially joined the Forté community on July 1, 2014, bringing the total in the network to 48 member schools in the United States, Canada and Europe.
