Smeal Final Deadline for Financial Aid Apps Feb. 1
The final deadline for all applicants that are seeking merit-based financial aid for the Smeal College of Business MBA program is Feb. 1. Prospective students who complete their application by this time will receive an admissions decision by April 1. The tuition cost for the program for Pennsylvania residents is $23,080. The cost for out-of-state residents is $36,962.
Smeal offers scholarships and graduate assistantships every year. These awards are based on merit using the admission-process criteria. The criteria consider a students academic ability, working experience, leadership skills and the student’s overall fit with the MBA program at Smeal. All prospective students who apply to Smeal by the Feb. 1 deadline will automatically be considered for funding. There is no additional application for the financial awards.
The graduate assistantships at Smeal are two-year awards funded by Penn State University. The assistantships are offered to attract outstanding students and to provide support to fulfill the University’s mission. The assistantships require recipients work 10 hours per week for the Smeal College of Business with responsibilities ranging from assisting faculty to working in one of Smeal’s research centers.
Students receive a 100 percent waiver of tuition, subsidized health insurance and a stipend of approximately $7,000 every academic year. In a student’s second year, the graduate assistantship may be adjusted to twenty hours per week with a corresponding doubling of the stipend to approximately $14,000.
Smeal MBA students are also eligible for alumni and friends of Penn State funded scholarships. Approximately 20 percent of incoming students have received a scholarship award typically ranging from $5,000 to $10,000. A complete list of scholarships offered to Smeal students can be found online.
