The Smeal College of Business at Penn State University has named Matthew E. Mooney as the director of the college’s new eLearning Design and Innovation Group (eLDIG). The new administrative unit was launched during the fall 2014 semester and is dedicated to instructional design for online and resident instruction.
The eLDIG is an administrative unit that is dedicated to instructional design. faculty in this group will assist other faculty with the design of new online courses as well as converting existing course content in to an online format. The group is not just limited to working with faculty on online and hybrid courses. In class instruction will also be provided with design support.
Some of the projects on which eLDIG will focus include enhancements to the Master of Professional Studies in Supply Chain Management program, the development of graduate-level business courses for online formats, and an undergraduate business certificate designed to provide a Smeal credential to students in other colleges.
Before coming to the Smeal College of Business, he was previously an assistant professor of web and interactive media at the Pennsylvania College of Technology. He has also previously taught or been a member of technology teams at Indiana University South Bend, the University of Arizona and Purdue University.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in organizational communication and a master’s degree in interpersonal communication. He received both of these degrees from Central Michigan University. Mooney also holds a doctoral degree in curriculum and instruction in education technology from Purdue University.
