McDonough Professor Set to Receive AMAF’s Wilkie Award

Alan R. Andreasen, professor of marketing at the McDonough School of Business, will receive the 2015 William L. Wilkie “Marketing for a Better World” Award. The award is being presented to him by The American Marketing Association Foundation (AMAF).

“I feel honored to receive this award, said Andreasen told the McDonough website. “It’s important that the American Marketing Association Foundation recognizes the significance of marketing contributions beyond the commercial sector.”

Andreasen is an internationally known educator and marketing consultant. An extremely accomplished academic mind, he has published over 120 articles and conference papers on a variety of topics including strategic planning, marketing decision-making, consumer behavior, marketing for nonprofit organizations, consumer satisfaction, marketing regulation, social marketing, and marketing research.

The Wilkie Award is named in honor of William (Bill) Wilkie, the Nathe Professor of Marketing at the Mendoza College of Business, University of Notre Dame, and “recognizes marketing thought leaders whose conceptual developments, substantive applications, or empirical studies serve to provide significant bases for improvements in the world.”

“It is hard to imagine anyone more fitting for this award than Alan, who lives the core idea motivating the award – to ‘honor marketing thinkers who have significantly contributed to our understanding and appreciation for marketing’s potentials to improve our world,’” said Robert Thomas, marketing professor at McDonough who nominated Andreasen for this award. “More significantly, he is a true role model for us – the ‘gentleman and scholar’ that we would all aspire to become.”

Andreasen will accept the award on February 14 at the AMA Winter Educators’ Conference in San Antonio, Texas.
