University of St. Thomas’ Cameron School of Business recently took a group of 14 MBA students to Amergy Bank for an opportunity to meet the founder, Walter Johnson, and speak with current employees. The trip was organized as part of Celts Exploring Business, an academic program at Cameron.
Matt McNally, a second-year Master of International Business student told the university’s news website about his visit. He said trips like these were an opportunity for him to practice his professional persona while representing the university with other professionals.
“The whole experience of going to the company, visiting and talking with other people in the field is really important,” McNally said. “And talking with other professionals in the ODP program – especially with one professional who was also not a finance major – helped me realize the opportunities within the company for someone like me.”
The Celts Exploring Business is an academic program at Cameron School of Business that invites students to tour local companies in order to get a better understanding of future potential careers. Earlier in February, CEB took students on a visit to the Federal Reserve bank in Houston where they had a chance to earn how the Federal Reserve System works as well as tour the facility.
Celts Exploring Business selects around 10 students for each of their programs. In order to be considered the students must submit an application for review, a short essay and a resume. Students may apply more than once to the program and may be selected for multiple company visits.
