Distinguished Leader Series at Coles Continues With Lockheed Exec

Kennesaw State University Michael J. Coles College of Business will continue their Distinguished Leader Lecture Series with Shan Cooper, vice president of Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company and general manager of the company’s Marietta, Ga., facility.

The event will take place Thursday, March 26 from 2-3:15 pm at Prillaman Hall on KSU’s campus. People who want to attend can register here for the lecture.

Cooper serves as the general manager of the company’s Marietta facility, which designs, produces, modifies and maintains military aircraft for the United States and countries around the world. She joined Lockheed in 2002 as a senior manager of diversity workforce management. She moved up through many positions of increasing responsibility including human resource management roles.

She has received numerous national honors, including the YWCA Tribute to Women of Achievement and the Women of Color in Technology Corporate Responsibility Award. She received the Pioneer Award from U.S. Black Engineer & Information Technology magazine in 2013. She was named one of Georgia Trend magazine’s Most Influential Georgians in 2012, 2013 and 2014 and Top 100 Under 50 Executives by Diversity MBA magazine.

Cooper sits on the boards of the Cobb County and Metro Atlanta chambers of commerce, The Carter Center, Emory University and the Woodruff Arts Center. She is the 2014 chair of the Georgia Partnership for Excellence in Education and a member of the Marietta Kiwanis Club, Atlanta Rotary Club and the Georgia Military Affairs Coordinating Committee.
