McCombs Shows Strong Performance in New U.S. MBA Rankings
The University of Texas at Austin McCombs School of Business full-time MBA program performed strongly in the 2016 edition of U.S. News & World Report’s survey of Best Graduate Schools of Business landing within the top-20.
McCombs’ full-time MBA has been among the top-20 programs in the nation for 21 of the past 22 years. This year, it ranks fifth among public schools, behind Berkeley, Michigan, UCLA and Virginia.
McCombs also ranked highly with their other degree offerings. In the part-time MBA ranking, they tied with Carnegie Mellon University for seventh place. The Executive MBA program marked its 13th year in the top 20 landing at rank 17 this year.
According to the McCombs news site, three business specialties landed in the top 10:
- Accounting – 1 (Ninth year in a row, and 23nd year in a row to be in the top five)
- Information Systems – 5 (23rd year in a row to be in the top five)
- Entrepreneurship – 8 (19th year in a row to be in the top 10)
The MBA rankings are calculated by combining evaluations from business school deans and program chairs, recruiter assessment, admissions data, and salary and job placement figures. Specialty rankings are determined entirely by assessment from deans and program chairs. The methodology for USN’s part-time survey is based half on evaluations from deans and directors and half on a combination of GMAT and GRE averages, undergraduate GPA and work experience, among other factors.
