On April 23, 2015 the George Mason University Alumni Association will recognize Michael Gallagher, MBA ’94, as the recipient of the school’s 2015 Alumni Service Award.
“Michael Gallagher was chosen as the Alumni Service Award winner for 2015 because he has remained actively involved with the Alumni Association, the School of Business, and the university while also achieving demonstrated success in the business world,” said Adriane Ackley, director of alumni operations, in a press release on the George Mason School of Business website.
Aside from his tenure as vice president of The New York Festivals, where he helped organize some of the world’s largest international awards competitions for film, television, advertising, and other media while founded the Stevie Awards in 2002, Gallagher has also stayed very involved at his alma mater. In 2005, he worked closely with the School of Business Alumni Relations staff to create the first Annual Business Alumni Celebration, and in 2009, he became active with the School of Business Alumni Chapter, serving as vice president of events and then led the group as president for two years. After his time as president, he served as an at-large member for another year and recently led the chapter’s fundraising committee. Gallagher has also served two terms on George Mason University Alumni Association’s Board of Directors as the School of Business representative and is a frequent judge of student business plans for capstone case competitions in both undergraduate and graduate programs at Mason’s business school.
The School of Business Distinguished Alumni Award recognizes one School of Business alumnus each year “who has demonstrated a high caliber of professional achievement in the for-profit, not-for-profit, or public sectors.”
