Cameron Alumna New President of Houston Junior League

Leadership highlighted

Mimi Foerster, received her MBA in ’03 from University of St. Thomas Cameron School of Business. After graduating, she was quickly employed as a financial adviser at UBS, a Swiss financial services company. Foerster shared with UST campus news that her position at UBS was her dream job– the ultimate melding of the two things she is passionate about: finance and people.

Recently, Foerster has been given an opportunity to take that passion one step further. Foerster was elected president of the Junior League of Houston, Inc., a charitable women’s organization that aims to improve communities.

According to AJLI’s website, “The Association of Junior Leagues International Inc. (AJLI) is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.”

As the leader of the Houston branch of the AJLI, Foerster will lead more that 5,100 members in the pursuit of that goal. At a recent event, the organization raised over $1 million for the Houston metro area.

When speaking about her time at UST, Foerster spoke about the influence one professor can have. “Dr. Shirvani was the professor that sparked my interest in finance and the reason I chose the path I am on,” Foerster says. “He is a wealth of knowledge and one of the most interesting people I have had the chance to hear.”
