Students at University of St. Thomas’ Cameron School of Business can pay their tuition in a lot of different ways; with student loans, credit cards, tacos. Wait, tacos? Yeah. And beer too. Well, they can’t walk in to the bursar’s office and slap down tortillas and a six pack, but UST’s Alumni Association Scholarship Fund may have found the next best thing.
For the fourth year in a row, UST’s Alumni Association Scholarship Fund hosted Two Saints and a Taco Tasting at Saint Arnold Brewing Company. The event was a way for local eateries to show off their taco chops while alumni and friends drink beer from the oldest craft brewery in Texas all the while raising money and support for scholarships.
Kathy and Joe Ridley led The Two Saints Host Committee including more than 30 alumni and student volunteers.
“This event is another avenue for alumni to support the University by providing scholarships to deserving students—to provide them the same quality education we all experienced at UST,” Kathy Ridley said.
This year, the event raised more than $85,000, the most ever for this event.
“We are both so excited about the success of the event,” Kathy Ridley said. “Everyone had a great time, and it was good to see so many new faces this year. The mood was very festive—the restaurants were awesome and everyone was ready and pumped. Thank you to all who made that possible.”
