Drucker Professor Awarded AMA Lifetime Achievement Award
The American Marketing Association has awarded Drucker School of Business Professor Bernie Jaworski, the 2015 Vijay Mahajan award. Jaworski serves as the Peter F. Drucker Chair in Management and the Liberal Arts at the Drucker School. The Mahajan Award is given by the AMA‘s Marketing Strategy Special Interest Group. The award honors the professor for his leadership and career impact on marketing strategy research and practice.
The Vijay Mahajan award was created in 2000 by the American Marketing Association Foundation. The award honors the career contributions and advancements in marketing strategy by marketing professor Vijay Mahajan. The award was endowed by Mahajan’s former colleagues, doctoral students, co-authors and friends. The goal of this award is to inspire marketing educators through their work in marketing strategies.
To be eligible for the award, candidates must be a marketing educator affiliated with an institution of higher learning, who has made sustained contributions to marketing strategy literature over a span of ten or more years. Jaworski is one of the country’s most highly cited marketing scholars. His three main articles on market orientation have been cited more than 15,000 times.
“It is indeed quite an honor to receive this award,” Jaworski said. “It is vey humbling to be placed along such a great group of scholars. Upon reflection, I am most proud of the balance I tried to attain between the right level of scientific rigor and deep managerial relevance.”
Professor Jaworski will be presented with the award at the American Marketing Association’s annual meeting held in Chicago in August. He is the 16th winner of the award.
