Imperial Students Win it All in Milan
Five MBA students at the Imperial College Business School have recently won the SDA Bocconi International Finance Competition, according to a recent press release. The event was organized by the Finance Club of the Full-Time MBA from the SDA Bocconi School of Management in Milan. Sandeep Kumar, Henry Quiroz, Mario Abdisa, Pavika Tanveerakasem and Pakaporn Thongyai NA Ayuttaya, the five students representing Imperial at the competition, beat out students from ten top business schools, including HEC, IESE, and EMST. The students earned 5,000 euros as a reward for their efforts.
Professor G. “Anand” Anandalingam, Dean of Imperial College Business School, was thrilled to see the strength of his school’s education reflected in the students’ victory at the competition. “I’m delighted to congratulate the students for their tremendous achievement and for beating some of the best business schools in Europe. Our popular MBA programmes are designed to foster an entrepreneurial approach to the world of business which is reflected in the success of these students,” he said in a press release.
The competition consisted of two different phases. In the first, participants were expected to formulate and present a sustainable business model for a renewable energy company as well as carry out a full company valuation. In the second phase students presented an investor roadshow in order to secure funding for their proposed business and its optimal capital structure. Students received help on their work from competition sponsors Bain & Company and Edison & Lazard. Judging on the competition was carried out by academics from the SDA Bocconi School of Management and members of sponsor organizations.
