Mike Kourey, MBA alumnus of Leavey ‘86, has been promoted to CFO of Medallia, according to a press release from the school. Medallia is one of the world’s largest customer experience management companies in the world and boasts clients like Four Seasons, Sephora and Airbnb amongst others. The company was started in 2001 by consultants to Fortune 500 executives after they saw a direct correlation between customer loyalty and the commercial success of a company.
Kourey’s previous experience as a businessman made him an appealing prospect for Medallia executives. “Mike is exactly what we have been looking for in a CFO. He brings sharp business and financial acumen as well as a humble and human approach to leadership. Mike has the breadth and depth of experience in scaling companies through rapid phases of growth that will be crucial to Medallia’s continued journey to lead the customer experience industry,” said Borge Hald, co-founder and CEO of Medallia, in a recent press release from the company.
Kourey has over 20 years of financial operating and audit committee experience in both startups and large enterprises. Before coming to Medallia, Kourey was a partner at Khosla Ventures, a venture capital company focused on early-stage internet companies, where he worked with RingCentral to guide the company through its initial successful public offering. He also touts time as the CFO of Polycom, where he was hired as their seventh employee before guiding the company to earning over $1.5 billion annually. Medallia’s position at the top of the customer experience management industry and their corporate culture all convinced Kourey to accept the position.
