Saïd and Global Shapers Award Two Scholarships

Two members of the Global Shapers Community have been selected to receive scholarships to attend Saïd Business School in order to pursue MBA degrees, according to a press release from the school. The Global Shapers Community, a World Economic Forum initiative, consists of a network of hubs developed and led by young people who are exceptional in their achievements, potential and their drive to make a contribution to their community. The scholarships are designed to give extraordinary students a chance to learn more about market-oriented practices to achieve real-world impact.

Tana Jambaldorj of the Ulaanbaatar Hub in Mongolia and Frank Fredericks of the New York City Hub were chosen from a field of highly talented and exceptional applicants, all of whom are members of the Global Shapers Community. In 2011, Jambaldorj founded the Mongolian Young Scholars Programme, which is designed to identify and prepare outstanding Mongolian high school students for admissions into top universities worldwide. He currently works in the mining industry. Fredericks is the founder of World Faith, a global interfaith development organization, as well as Mean Communications, a digital strategy consultancy. He currently works in the music industry after graduating from NYU.

Both students said they felt honored upon being awarded the scholarship and were excited at the prospect of completing their MBA at Saïd. “This is such a huge honour and I am really looking forward to my time at Oxford, not just as an Oxford student but as a Global Shaper. Coming to Oxford is a good opportunity to gain a lot of ideas in a wide range of fields. It is not just about getting the know-how for building the particular business endeavour that I want to pursue after my MBA, but will also allow me to bring back new ideas to my Global Shapers Hub in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia as well as the larger Global Shapers community,” said Jambaldorj in a press release.
