UT Arlington MBA Student Receives Scholarship
The Public Company Accounting Oversight Board has chosen the University of Texas at Arlington College of Business as the recipient of a $10,000 scholarship for a student. The accounting department at UT Arlington chose to award the scholarship to Kristen Scott, a student who is pursuing a master’s degree in taxation and an MBA.
Scott has been a student at UT Arlington since 2012. She has served as an officer of the accounting honor society, Beta Alpha Psi, for three semesters, and she will complete an eight-week internship this summer with the private equity-focused firm Holthouse, Carlin, and Van Trigt, LLP. After the summer, she will complete her master’s in taxation and sit for the CPA exam soon after. She aims to complete her MBA in May 2016.
Scott was delighted to receive the scholarship. “The hard work and effort you put into our education does pay off, in so many ways, and I’m so grateful to be awarded this scholarship to help cover my educational expenses,” she said.
To be nominated for the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board scholarship, a student has to be enrolled in an accounting degree program at the bachelor’s or master’s level. In addition, they must demonstrate a keen interest in auditing and accounting and a high standard of ethics.
