The Production and Operations Management Society (POMS) has awarded the 2015 Wickham Skinner Early-Career Research Accomplishments Award to Guoming Lai, an assistant professor of information, risk and operations management at the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin. The award, which recognizes an early-career professor for outstanding research and teaching accomplishments, was presented to Lai during the 2015 annual POMS meeting in Washington, D.C.

Mike Pinedo, the chair of the POMS early-career research award committee, explained why Lai received the award: “Dr. Lai has made unique contributions on the frontiers of operations management research intersecting with the finance and marketing areas. His research has been recognized across the academic community.”

Upon receiving the award, Lai stated: “I am very thrilled to be the recipient of the POMS Wickham Skinner Early-Career Research Accomplishment Award this year. It is a great honor to join the previous winners, most of whom have already become the leading scholars in the Production and Operations Management society.”

Guoming Lai received his PhD from Carnegie Mellon University in 2009 before becoming an assistant professor at McCombs. His research interests include Supply Chain Management, and selected topics in the interfaces between Operations, Marketing, Finance, Energy, and Sustainable Operations.
