NYC & Company, the official marketing, tourism, and partnership organization for New York City, has appointed Abby Spatz, an evening MBA alumna of the Goizueta Business School at Emory University, to the position of chief marketing officer (CMO). As CMO, Spatz will lead NYC & Company’s marketing group and direct and implement the company’s strategic marketing plans. She will also oversee NYC & Company’s in-house creative, digital, editorial, photography, and video teams. Spatz reports to Fred Dixon the President and CEO of NYC & Company.

“Abby is a forward-thinking and accomplished marketing executive who will play a critical role in spreading the welcoming image of New York City’s five boroughs around the world,” Dixon said. “We are dedicated to inspiring travel to the City, and Abby’s wealth of experience will help expand the future potential of the industry and motivate visitation.”
Spatz has spent more than 20 years working for global consumer lifestyle brands. She comes to NYC & Company from the beauty and spa brand Bliss, where she held the position of head of integrated marketing and communications. She was a managing partner at MEC/MediaEdge, leading the Chanel business for the WPP-agency. She also served as head of consumer engagement and integrated marketing at eBay, senior director of integrated marketing & advertising for Hilton (where she led the award-winning “Travel Should Take You Places” global marketing campaign), vice president and account director at Momentum Worldwide, senior brand manager at American Express, and North American account supervisor at McCann-Erickson World Wide, where she worked on the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games with the Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau and on the Coca-Cola company’s ad campaigns. In addition to earning her MBA from Goizueta, she also earned her undergraduate degree from Emory University.
