Imperial Develops New Masters Program
Imperial College Business School will be offering a new program that aims to prepare students to tackle the unique challenges that climate change will present in the future, according to a press release from the school. The new MSc in Climate Change, Management & Finance, developed with the help of the Grantham Institute, will ready students to enter a wide array of fields including carbon finance, risk management, sustainability consulting, the energy industry, government and green technology.
Businesses are becoming more and more aware of the practical obstacles that climate change might pose, as well as the importance of reducing their carbon footprint and increasing sustainability. The program, which will be taught by experts from Imperial College Business School and Grantham Institute, will focus on issues like strategic planning, operations, and finance that are impacted by climate change. Students will learn about the role technology plays in addressing climate change as well as the scientific and political concerns that dictate global climate politics. The program will also feature guest lectures from leading figures in the world of business and climate change.
Dr Mirabelle Muûls, Lecturer at the Grantham Institute and Program Director of the MSc Climate Change, Management & Finance, was excited about the possibilities that a combined knowledge of business and sustainability might offer. “At the end of the programme students will be equipped with a strong understanding of mainstream business and finance, together with climate change and sustainability. The knowledge and skills that they will gain in these two areas will mean graduates from the programme can expect to enter a wide range of careers,” she said in a press release.
