Boston College Trustee Associate John Powers ’73, and his wife, Linda have made a gift to the Carroll School of Management that will endow the deanship of Dean Andy Boynton. Dean Boynton has been dean of the Carroll School of the last ten years. The endowment, named the John and Linda Powers Deanship Fund will honor Dean Boynton’s tenure at the school. The Powers’ gift will also go toward Dean Boynton’s plans for the advancement of the Carroll School of Management.
Dean Boynton’s plans include efforts to devote greater resources to faculty research and teaching, as well as innovative programs that further enhance the student experience in the Carroll School. In addition to serving as Dean of the Carroll School, Dean Boynton also participates in numerous University projects at Boston College. He recently co-chaired a committee of deans, faculty and university administrators to renew and revitalize the undergraduate core curriculum. He also works with departments at Boston College outside of the Carroll School, leading workshops to help shape their visions and innovative strategies.
“I can’t speak highly enough of Andy Boynton’s accomplishments at the Carroll School,” Powers told BC in a press release. “His dynamism and energy, his extraordinary leadership and his tireless hard work have taken the school to the very top echelon of business programs. As an alumnus and supporter, I can’t wait to see what’s next.”
John Powers is a Boston College alumnus and currently serves as a managing director at Goldman Sachs & Company. He and his wife Linda are the parents of two BC alumni and a current undergraduate student at the university.
