Saïd Awards Three MBA Scholarships to Latin American Students

Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford awarded three scholarships to attend a Saïd MBA program to three students from Latin America, according to a press release from the school. Alexandre Carneiro of Brazil was given the “Dean’s Scholarship for Nationals from Latin America,” funded by Saïd dean Peter Tufano and his wife Mary Jeanne Tufano. Ana Maria Moreno of Ecuador and William Ou of Brazil were each awarded the Saïd Foundation Scholarship for Latin Americans.

The students were selected based on their exemplary achievements. Carneiro works for a British company providing services, information, and communication technology solutions in Latin America. He has an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering and needs further education to advance in his company. Moreno has a strong background in social enterprise, having worked with NGOs and big brand agency work. She worked on Helleroy, an online platform that let donors see in real-time how their money was being used. Ou built a successful company in Brazil called Superbrands, which has sold 50 million toothbrushes in seven years.
Carneiro was thrilled to be accepted into the program and looked towards the ways it would help him change his native Latin America. “I feel extremely honoured for being chosen for the Dean’s Scholarship for Latin America. Not only is this an amazing opportunity to study at Oxford Saïd but it is also an opportunity to be part of a network that is well known for its excellence. I intend to learn and develop skills to be able to contribute to business and society in the future. I envision myself leading a company that will enable individuals to have better and less costly access to technology in Latin America,” he said in a press release from the school.
