In early 2016, the University of Dallas is set to open SB Hall, a new state-of-the-art home for the Satish & Yasmin Gupta College of Business.
Funding for the new facility was provided by the Gupta’s, graduates of the university’s MBA program for whom the college was renamed in 2013. The Dallas-based steel entrepreneurs’ gift of $12 million for construction of the facility will be the largest in the history of the university. Additional funding will be necessary to provide complete installation of furniture and computer software in addition to landscaping and parking. The total estimate for the project exceeds $16 million.
“The university gave us a foundation of love and respect that has had a lasting impact on us,” Yasmin Gupta said. “We hope students will spread their wings the way we did.”
When completed, the new SB Hall will be a cutting-edge facility located amidst the hilly 222-acre campus in Irving, standing at one of the highest points in the area. Designed for maximum energy efficiency, the building will reaffirm the university’s commitment to green architecture and conservation.
The 45,000-square-foot building will additionally include classrooms on every floor, areas for students to gather and lounges for studying, as well as several spaces for student groups and meetings. The facility will moreover incorporate abundant natural light and advanced interactive classroom.
SB Hall will be constructed to adapt to the chanb needs of the college over time, allowing for the spaces to easily adapt and be reconfigured depending on changes in the campus population and its needs.
