UIC’s Alumni 4 U Program Helps Network Students With Established Professionals
Networking with alumni at whichever business school you attended is always an important part of attaining an MBA degree. University of Illinois at Chicago Liautaud Graduate School of Business helps bring successful alumni in front of prospective MBAs by sponsoring Alumni 4 U. According to the school,
“this recurring event is a knowledge-sharing program designed to bring UIC Business alumni and students together. The program features 1:1 informational interviews in which alumni give career advice to students.”
Here are a few upcoming alumni who are ready to share their experiences with current Liautaud students:
Eamonn McDonagh – United Airlines – Wednesday, September 23, 2015 – 3:00pm to 5:00pm
According to his LinkedIn, McDonagh is a licensed CPA with 10 years of professional accounting and audit experience including Big Four Public Accounting, SEC Financial Reporting Filings, Internal Audit, Operational Audits and Regulatory Compliance. He has over 17 years in the airline industry, including 10 years of inflight and ground handling operations and over 7 years in Financial Accounting, Internal Audit and Regulatory Compliance. McDonagh currently is the regulatory Compliance Manager at United Airlines, where he manages portions of United’s compliance program for U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) enacted for Consumer Protection (14 CFR Parts 234, 250, 254, 257, 259, 382 and 399).
McDonagh also teaches the following classes at UIC: ACTG 534 Auditing – Designed to provide students with an understanding of issues relevant to the public accounting profession, an introduction to audit testing and procedures and entry-level understanding of conducting audits of financial statement and internal controls; ACTG 594 Internal Auditing – Covering the common body of knowledge needed by professional internal auditors the topics include managing risk, internal controls, audit approach, ethics, fieldwork and report writing.
Scott Quinn – Deloitte – Friday, September 25, 2015 – 9:00am to 11:00am
Scott Quinn is an IT professional with over 15 years of experience focused on providing product management in support of global products. He currently works at Deloitte in the Global Consulting Practice. Quin has experience working with global teams, vendor management and relationships, virtual teams, and Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) application support and delivery.
Quinn received his MBA from UIC and also also spent 8 years serving in the United States Navy as a nuclear power plant operator specializing in the generation and distribution of electrical power. He also worked as an analyst for UIC, where, among other things, he designed use-case for Business Intelligence systems at the university, evaluating potential systems ensuring needs of the university were met.
Vincent Delgado – BMO – Thursday, October 15, 2015 – 3:00pm to 5:00pm
Delgado is currently the Manager, Corporate & Commercial Lending System Training & Help Desk at BMO Harris Bank. According to his LinkedIn, he is responsible for organizing, preparing and conducting all training activities related to the bank’s commercial systems including Risk Rating Systems, Customer Financial statement spreading software, Commercial customer adjudication software, Workflow tools and any other commercial systems implemented over time. Delgado assess training needs, and execute annual training plans.
