UT Arlington Student Honored with Scholarship
A student at The University of Texas at Arlington College of Business has been awarded a scholarship through a partnership between Kia Motors America and the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU). At the end of August, UT Arlington student Ramiro Cazares was named as one of 16 students who will receive a $4,000 scholarship towards their education at a HACU member institution.
HACU membership is defined by colleges and universities in the U.S. that are home to over two-thirds of all Hispanic college students, of which UT Arlington is included. To qualify for the scholarship, students were required to maintain at least a 3.0 grade point average at one of over 400 HACU schools nation-wide.
Rhonda Bolton, head of corporate Diversity initiatives for Kia Motors America, said: “Kia believes in contributing to a better future for all through education, and through our partnership with the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities, we are proud to provide these scholarships to Hispanic college-aged students who are some of the best and brightest minds in higher education.”
President and CEO of HACU, Antonio R. Flores, emphasized the importance of investing in students as future leaders of the country, and his pleasure at partnering with Kia in order to support each student’s education.
HACU is the only national association representing Hispanic-Serving Institutions, and is dedicated to the educational success of students in the United States, Puerto Rico, Latin America and Spain. Kia Motors America is the marketing and distribution division of Kia Motors Corporation, a record-setter in sales and provider of more than 15,000 American jobs.
